I have never visited a museum anywhere in the world where visitors, so moved by the displayed exhibits, leave notes on the walls–except in Sarajevo Historical Museum. The above photo captured only a few from many I saw, while visiting the Museum’s permanent exhibition: Besieged Sarajevo 1992–1995. The exhibition is a work in progress. It consists of various objects donated by Sarajevans, invented and manufactured during the siege: from homemade lamps and soaps to power generators, stoves and guns. At the entrance, visitors are encouraged to spread the word and donate what they have–so the exhibition is still growing.
